Ian and I were good friends at Yale, as some of the few Linguistics majors at the time, before he decided to stay on an extra year and complete his degree in computer science. He reached out to me several years back to let me know that he was happily married and just now something prompted me to want to get in touch with him. How sad to learn that he has left us far too soon. My sincere condolences to Elaine and the rest of Ian's family.

Ian, the times we shared when we worked together will always remain in my memory. You were such a good man to talk to and learn from. It was so, so good to see you and Elaine in Auckland, it meant a lot. I will not forget you, rest easy my friend.

You were such a special person Ian and a comfort and support to me during this last tough year.
I have wonderful memories of nights out with Steve, you and Elaine invariably ending up at ours or your house, music blaring and us all dancing.
I miss you so much Ian but am so pleased that you were in my life. I will never forget you, you dear man

Ian we are missing you so much. We had so much fun with you and Elaine and all our friends over the past few years. You were always there with a friendly hug, a twinkly smile and a raised glass! It won't be the same without you. You were a dear man and a good friend, love from Nina and Alan xxxxx
