I am so sorry to have missed the memorial service for Eddy today. Sincere apologies to Lucy and her sisters. I was stuck in a grid lock situation on the M5 due to a major accident. A normal 35 minute journey took me over 3 hours .If you recorded the service I would love to see it.. Mark said it was beautiful. Also I would love to see any photos. Sending you all my love. Jeremy xxxx

We are very saddened to hear the news that Eddy passed away in April. We were neighbours who lived opposite him & Brenda from 2008 to 2012. He was a true gentlemen & a pleasure to have known. We used to chat at length about his time flying Sunderland's during the war & his stories & vivid recollection were captivating. I will echo the sentiments of others in saying he was a lovely man and one of life’s greats. Chris & Laura

Eddy was my first boss at Hillingdon Hospital in the 60's. It was my first substantive job and Eddie was very supportive and encouraging. He was also my much valued mentor and , with Brenda, our friends.. After 3 years my wife, Susan
and I decided that we wanted experience of a different country and health system. Eddy was instrumental in making contacts, which facilitated a move to Toronto. By the time we came back to UK , Eddy had been appointed to the House Governor post at The Royal Free, which was, within our profession , a prestigious appointment . We then renewed our friendship that was sustained over many years.. I will remember him as a kind, generous man who had personal integrity and was much loved

My sisters Clare and Lucy and I will miss our father more than we can say. One of the special things in the last few weeks has been talking some of Eddy’s former NHS colleagues, who remember him as a great ‘people person’. One of them, John Ranken, wrote: Eddy was a tremendous friend and colleague when we worked together at the Kings Fund College, and he was a fantastic role model for the younger NHS administrators we were running courses for. The same day another colleague remembered Eddy’s encouraging him to take up an opportunity to go and work in Canada. It’s been wonderful to hear these memories - in both cases from people who worked with Eddy in the 1960s.

Dear family and friends,
I first met Eddy more than 30 Years ago when he and Brenda were in Madrid visiting Lucy. I still remember with clarity walking along the streets of Madrid with Eddy and Brenda and talking about Lucy. I remember their openness, their kindness, their warmth, and I envied Lucy’s good fortune in having such devoted parents. Eddy’s eyes sparkled so proudly as he talked about his daughters and their shared lives. He was a sweet and gentle man for whom I have retained the warmest of memories all these many years.

Uploading a photo of Lucy and Eddy from our wedding 20 years ago. We had an old coach to transport guests from the registry office to the restaurant and Eddy was very excited sitting on the coach seeing all his old haunts in Hillingdon. He was a lovely man who always dressed smartly and with style. I remember him when I was young, seeing him in his pin-stripe suit and bowler hat going up to London on the tube.

Eddy and Brenda were such a supportive couple, neighbours and great friends to our family. He had a long and fulfilling life and will be much missed, especially by Suzanne, Clare and Lucy his much loved daughters.

Eddy was a truly wonderful gentleman. I first met him and his wife Brenda when I was in the sixth form at school. I became a good friend of their daughter Lucy. Eddy would often pick up Lucy from the many parties we had at the time. He and Brenda also became good friends and we stayed in contact over the years. I remember happy times meeting them at their house in Redland, Bristol. They were always so welcoming and interested to hear all the news. They were both always so smart and such good company. They were clearly devoted to each other and their family. I loved hearing the romantic story about how they met on a train. With Eddy's passing last week we have lost a true gentleman and one of life's greats. He will live on in the memories of all who had the pleasure of meeting him. Sending much love to all his family.
