Very sad and unexpected news. Woody was always fine value for a chat about CGS, local sport and a good wind up! Rest in peace old friend. John Ursell

We go back a long way woody, drank many a beer and played a lot of rugby. tragic that we cannot attend you funeral because of the situation not giving us a chance to say goodbye. I will definately come to CRFC later in the year to say a proper goodbye.

We had known each other for over 60 years - same class for 5 years at Cheltenham Grammar School. Highly competitive; gritty; always had a smile; passionate re all sports. Will miss you at the cricket festival. Peace be with John, a truly successful ambassador for Cheltenham. Dennis Sobey
