It is difficult to imagine that Alan is no longer with us because he and Sue called in to see me at my home in Essex after Christmas when I had just lost my Wife. He had known both of us for many years and their visit helped to lift my spirits.
We originally came to know each other through our passion for railways with a nod towards 'buses as well. It was inevitable that Alan would become Chairman of our local Railway Society and I was his Vice Chairman for a period. His enthusiasm knew no bounds and it was infectious.
My heart goes out to Sue and the family at this time of sadness but memories of Alan will never fade.
