I am forever grateful to Professor Thomas for giving me the opportunity to undertake a PhD at The University of St. Andrews. He was a distinguished scientist and it is an honour for me to have been one of his students.
I send my deepest felt condolences to his
family for their loss.

Professor Thomas worked with my mother, Tina Briscoe for a long, long time and indeed I have memories of him from when I was very young (I'm not very young any more). On behalf of all of the Briscoe family, we'd like to extend our condolences and say how sorry we are to hear this news.
With kind regards,
Julia.
