Alfie was the uncle that I never got to meet. Due to challenges within the family at the end of World War II, he became estranged from his family. I had tried to track him down in recent years with no success. Other family members had done the same. Recently I was doing research on his dad and sister and I discovered his obituary. Though I never met him, he holds a place in my heart and it seems appropriate to acknowledge him here now. His dad died in the military during World War 2 and his mom,Margaret Waters Williams, died in Michigan a number of years ago. My mom, Lilian Waters Joncas, is his sister and is 94 and nearing the end of her life and living in senior living in Missouri. His sister Pauline Witham died just weeks prior to his death in England. To my knowledge he had no contact with family since the end of World War 2. Even in death it is important for us to acknowledge people.
