It was will great sadness that Draycott Parish Council heard the news of our oldest Parish resident passing away at the grand age of 106. Mrs Hammond (Councillor Hammond as she was then known) became a Councillor in the Parish in 1977. She served as Parish Councillor for 30 years before retiring in 2007. Councillor Hammond was dedicated to her role. She was knowledgeable about the area, it's history and the people that lived there. She worked hard to fight for issues within the Parish especially Cresswell where she lived at the time. She remained interested in the work of the Council and regularly received updates from visiting Councillor friends. Her opinion on local issues was always valued and respected. Only recently while out walking with her daughter along Uttoxeter Road, she came across a working party of Councillors and the Clerk meeting with a Highways officer to discuss some problems within the Parish. She stopped to have a chat and find out what was going on. She was always passionate about her Parish and her positive 'can do' attitude will always be remembered.
