Sir JohnTHOMSONSir John Thomson of Lochpatrick Mill died on June 3 2018, aged 91. A father, husband, traveller and diplomat, he regarded Galloway as home while pursuing a distinguished career during which he served as Britain's representative in India and at the UN in New York and into retirement remained closely involved in issues such as Minority Rights and nuclear disarmament. He is deeply missed by family and a wide circle of friends in Scotland and around the world. A memorial service in Galloway for friends and family is planned for late July.
