'Near You' by Francis Craig and his orchestra. I loved watching Dad play this on the piano just to see his hands cross each other from side to side as he did so. I remember one occasion when I'd asked him to play it and he ran out of time and disappeared. Mum left him notes all over the house to remind him that he owed me a rendition ..... and he kept this date with me. Stephanie X

'All The Things You Are' by Jack Jones. Dad spent months trying to learn to play this without sheet music! He absolutely loved it. I failed to recognise, at the time, how deeply he felt things. Stephanie X

It is now nine years since Dad died and I have only just found my way to this page.

Our family history was complicated - as so many are. Dad, Brian, was father to me and also to Helen, and the first husband of my Mum, Mollie. She was his first wife. They were married for about 16 years and lived in Tynemouth.

His great talents lay in music, business and golf, his handicap being only 3.

He spent the last 20 years or so of his life on South Uist in the Outer Hebrides with his second wife, Ann. That is where he is buried.

He will always be part of me and though he is gone, he will never be forgotten.

With my love,

Stephanie xxx

My father was a wonderfully talented pianist and in another life would have been a Concert Pianist. He played many wonderful pieces on his own boudoir grand piano, but when I hear Clair de Lune, I stop dead. He is there with me. Stephanie X
