I was very sad to hear the news of his passing. He really was a super teacher with a passion for physics and a deep seated desire to pass that passion onto them.

I was a pupil at KNGS from 1964-1970. Howard was a fixture at the school. A true character and I never saw him in a bad mood. He was the driving force behind the trips to Italy. I will always remember him for his kind support and encouraging words. He is sadly missed. Graham Packer

Exceptional Teacher, Exceptional Man
Howard tried to get me in to Oxford and although we were unsuccessful (did well in the Physics paper though) I took a first in Physics at Manchester. His teaching methods and general attitude to education and young peoples development taught his students how to think as much as they did about Physics. He was always welcoming years after I had left him and whilst he was proud of his students who were commercial successes hsi true joy were those who pursued Academia.

An inspiration
Howard was an inspirational teacher. I did Physics at university because of him. I will never forget the school trip to Italy, Easter 1969, which he led. He had a way of getting the best out of us. I have often thought of him and am sad to hear of his passing. Brian Nash

One of the best
A great teacher who helped many of his pupils achieve great things over several generations. He went above and beyond the norm. He will be missed - but is blessed by the fact that there will many men up and down the land who will always remember him, even those who do not know he has passed. Thanks Howard!
