My confidant and advisor. A person who could be trusted. Thank you for threatening me with detention if I didn’t agree to play the part of “Nancy” in the school production of “Oliver Twist”!
I loved every minute and will never forget you or my one successful ‘treading of the boards’.

Was so sorry to hear this news, a lovely lady who I remember from my schooldays and also from recent class reunions...

How wonderful to see all the pictures of Val throughout her life. I didn't know she was a Wren - and presumably an S & S one judging by the CERES cap tally. It made me feel that I knew this lovely lady better than I did, although our acquaintanceship stretched over many years through Julia. Always smiling, good humoured and a vigorous, lively presence. May you all remember her as such. I so enjoyed chatting to her at the T-J's Christmas gatherings, and her absence will be felt keenly. My thoughts are with you all at this sad time.

I know what a huge hole Val’s departure has left for her family, but we too shall miss seeing her in her element at all the TJ family occasions. She always had pride of place at their terrific Christmas parties, and took such an interest in everything we were all doing. A lovely, lively lady and she will be sorely missed but always remembered.
With love Pennie & Tim xx
