Lorenzo (Angelo's Ice-Cream)GIAQUINTOPlease pray for the repose of the soul of Lorenzo Giaquinto who sadly died at Scunthorpe General Hospital on 18th November 2022 aged 65 years. Beloved husband of Marianna, dearly loved dad to Angelo, Cesarina and Giovanna, adored and adoring grandad to Luca, Fabio, Giacomo, Francesca, Amelie, Gino, Arabella and Elana, father in law to Catherine, Ian and Richard, brother of Alfonzo, Maggie, Franco, Gerardo, Joanna and twin brother to Andonietta, brother in law of Maria & Simon, Gerry, Peppo, Annuccia and Donato and a cherished uncle to many from near and far. Our renowned ice cream man of Scunthorpe, a well respected friend and magician will be deeply missed by many more. Now re-united with his loving parents Angelo and Giovanna and his brother Donato. He will be received into Holy Souls Church, Frodingham Road, Scunthorpe on Monday 5th December at 5pm. Mass will be held on Tuesday 6th December at 11am followed by an interment in Woodlands Cemetery. Family flowers only please but donations in his memory will be collected for a children's charity and can be left following the service or sent c/o J Naylor Funeral Directors Comforts Avenue Scunthorpe DN15 6PN

I remember Lorenzo from when I was a kid, that happy Ice cream man that always stopped outside our house even though we lived on a corner! Then I had the pleasure of getting to know him and his amazing family through his son Angelo. He always welcomed you into his house, what was his was yours! When I was about 9/10 my brother dropped matches in the outhouse and started a fire. My mum n dad were chucking buckets of water on it and sent us out in the front garden. Lorenzo pulled up and I shouted "my house is on fire!" Without hesitation he grabbed his tiny extinguisher from the van, dived over the wall and ran into the house to help 💞

Then when my daughter was about 7/8 Lorenzo had pulled onto the kerb opposite the house. Pesky kids went running to get ice cream money and unfortunately, she was one of them and was hit by a car. Again, he was with us making sure she was OK, made her the biggest ice cream boat and gave me his number so I could call him later to let him know how she was after we took her to hospital to get checked out (luckily just cuts and bruises). 🤗

He really did have a huge heart. It's a wonder he had any money with all the ice cream he gave away!!

Think of all of you at this sad time.

RIP Lorenzo, you deserve the best send off x ❤
