Eric JamesHOLLERTON(North Shields) Peacefully passed away on Friday 31st July 2020 aged 70 years. Eric, loving son of the late Robert Arthur Hollerton and Joan Bonnici, brother of Lesley Goldsbrough, also much loved cousin to Corinne and Marion. Eric was a highly respected local studies librarian based at Wallsend for many years and will be deeply missed by all of his family, friends and colleagues. Eric's family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to all of the home care workers, NHS staff for the compassionate and loving care given to Eric throughout his later years in life. A celebration of Eric's life will be held at Tynemouth Crematorium Chapel on Friday 14th August at 3.00pm. Flowers welcome if desired which may be sent to Co-op Funeralcare, Billy Mill Ave, North Shields, NE29 0QR or donations may be given to Newcastle's Cat & Dog Shelter, a box will be available at the service.

It is very sad to hear about the loss of Eric and I wish to pass on my greatest sympathy's to his close family and friends.
I used the library quite a lot over the years and he was always able to help with any enquiry. I was always in awe of the facts he could remember and his local knowledge. It is rare to find someone with such passion for history and the area in which they live.
I have many of his books. He will be a great miss to the whole community.

Eric was a good friend and neighbour plenty of chats,and in his better day's of his life, Eric looked after my cat Dinkey always stopped and chatted and he loved cats,books and history etc Rest in Peace I salute you thank you for being you xxxx

I worked with Eric at the Local Studies Centre in North Shields as part of my work with North Tyneside libraries in the 1980's. I loved my time there. A great team headed up by Eric, a quiet man with a huge local knowledge and a passion for his subject.

I was one of Eric’s carers. It was a pleasure knowing Eric, I never heard him complain about anything, and always knew the answer to anything we asked him, he is going to be missed by all the carers who looked after him
