DavidNIDDRobert Born 26th June 1936 in Grimsby, slipped peacefully from this world surrounded by loved ones at home in Derby on 24th August 2016 aged 80 years. David was the eldest son of Clement and Mabel Nidd. His father was a Jeweller in Grimsby and, whilst David didn't work for the family firm, jewellery was in his blood. Following National Service in the RAF, he learned his trade working for a variety of different jewellers across the country, before finally landing in Derby where he opened David Nidd Jewellers Ltd on Osmaston Road. A successful businessman, David was generous in spirit and no one could ask for a better friend. In 2007, David relocated his shop to Belper where he remained in business until finally deciding to retire at the age of 79. David will be much missed by his beloved Kath, sister Margaret, nieces, nephews, cousins and very many friends. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday 14th September at St. Marys Church, Draycott at 12.30pm followed by cremation at Markeaton. Family flowers only, donations payable to Treetops Hospice may be sent to Co-op Funeralcare, 88-90 Derby Road, Long Eaton, NG10 4LB. Tel: 0115 9732848.

So sorry to hear that David has passed away. I have known him for many years since I worked at the Derbyshire Building Society in Main Centre both as a friend and a customer. We used to laugh because in those day we banked at llloyds Bank on the Spot and I could not pass the shop without buying a ring. In fact today I am wearing an opal ring that I brought from David with some of my reundancy money. I used to drop in and say hello when I visited Belper Shopping. My thoughts are with you all at this very sad time, Christine Dearman.
