PeterCARRSir Peter D. Carr CBE DL Peter died peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday 21st October aged 87. He had been suffering ill health related to Parkinson's Disease. He was a loving husband, caring father and grandfather and a loyal public servant. From working-class beginnings in South Yorkshire he contributed widely to society as a joiner, college lecturer, industrial relations conciliator, British diplomat in Washington DC, economic development champion for the North East and chair of several NHS organisations, most recently as chair of the NHS Trust Development Authority. He leaves a wife, Geraldine, son Steve, daughter Alyce and four adoring grandchildren, Nelson, Warren, Elizabeth and Oscar. The funeral service is to be held at 11.30 am on 6th November at East Chapel Crematorium, West Road Cemetery, Newcastle. Family flowers only. Donations to Parkinson's UK.
