I have been profoundly shocked upon learning of Jim's passing. He was my supervisor and mentor during my PhD journey, which was made smooth and manageable by his insightful comments, continuous support, and constant smile. I had been in touch with him recently and was thinking about him when I heard this sad news!

One tribute to him beautifully states that he was gifted in 'bringing any subject to life and bringing any subject into his life.' How true! It hurts so much to know you are gone, Jim, but I am forever grateful for you and your guidance. My years of study in the UK would never have been the same without you!

It is with a heavy heart that I write this tribute to my respected supervisor, James Milton. His loss has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him. Jim was not just my supervisor during my Master's and PhD; he was a mentor and father figure. His kindness and unwavering support shaped my journey, nurturing my strengths and guiding me through challenges.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to inspire all of us. Thank you, Jim, for your kindness and support. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

I was shocked, I have just been told that my External Examiner Prof. Jim Milton died, he was a mentor and a role model to me..
Words seem too small to express the sadness we feel about Jim’s death. He will be so missed.

Thank you Jim for being so wonderfully kind and supportive during my first year of ELTons judging. Your warmth and generosity of knowledge made it a delight to be working alongside you and I always enjoyed our chats and correspondence. It was a privilege to benefit from your wealth of wisdom directly, after our paths had crossed many times at the ELTons over the years. I have really appreciated the inspiration, encouragement and your ever-ready sounding board about what makes effective innovation so will endeavour to carry them forward in future judging. I'm sure your loss will be felt keenly by everyone who knew and those who loved you - my sincere condolences to all.
