Frank TemperleyMATTISONBorn 18th August 1932, passed suddenly at home on 30th October 2019. Educated at the City of Norwich School and Peterhouse, Cambridge, Frank had a long and distinguished career in the former Overseas Civil Service and in University administration. Frank was a truly kind, selfless and unassuming man. He is survived by his wife, Lorna, his brother, John, his two daughters, Ann and Jane, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by all his family. There will be a funeral service held at 12pm, Thursday 14th November at the Parish Church of All Saints, Hessle, HU13 0RB. I joined the University of Hull in 1981. Frank was Registrar. He and I quickly found we had a joint interest in legal issues affecting universities and after I left Hull in 1986, we jointly edited the first book on Universities and the Law published since 1910. He was a highly intelligent and well-informed individual and without doubt the best ‘boss’ I had in my working life. A charming, erudite individual to whom I will always be indebted. My sincere condolences to his family.

Frank was my Registrar when I joined the administrative staff of Hull University. Frank's professionalism, integrity, humanity, kindness and humour were always evident and I valued them greatly. I shall remember Frank with gratitude and affection. Condolences to those who mourn Frank's passing.
