YelandurSHANKARIt is with great sadness to announce the death of our wonderful father Dr Yelandur Puttaveerappa Shankar who passed peacefully on Saturday 10 August aged 92 in Heol Don Care Home, Whitchurch, Cardiff.

Dad was a devoted husband to the love of his life, our late mother Brenda, a proud and loving father to Arun, Sunita and Rama and a caring grampy to Kiran and Theo. We were all able to spend time with Dad before his passing for which we are so grateful.

Dad graduated in 1955 from the University of Mysore where he was awarded the Gold Medal for General Proficiency and prizes for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and for achieving the highest marks in Pathology. He came to the UK in 1957 for further study and to work. Happy times were spent working in hospitals in Merthyr, where he also met our mother. Dad then worked in Clonmel, Ireland, a place very dear to both our parents and finally Caerphilly. Here they established our happy family home, living there for over 50 years.

He became a senior partner in Ty Bryn Surgery. Dad was a well-respected and loved GP covering Bedwas and Trethomas. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be for the immediate family. Family and friends will be notified about any further arrangements.
