VeraWHITTAKERMRS Vera Whittaker, of Grasmere Road, Haslingden, died on Sunday, November 3, aged 86. Devoted wife of the late Roland, as well as loving mother to sons David and Robin and daughter-in-law Angela, she also leaves niece Gillian, nephew Allen, cousins Joan and Ronnie and their families, together with many close friends. Her main occupation was that of tracer for TMM, and North West Water Authority in the technical drawing office. She retired from work in 1993. She enjoyed going to dinner dances with Roland and spending many family holidays in Cornwall. A keen gardener and printer, she also enjoyed flower arranging. She was an active member of St James Parish Church Haslingden Mothers' Union. Her funeral was due to take place at 1pm on Thursday, November 14, with a service at St James Parish Church, Haslingden followed by interment at Haslingden Cemetery officiated by Fr. David Stephenson. Donations in memory of Vera are for Cancer Research UK c/o funeral director Josephine Durning for Johnson, Durning and Woods Funeral Service, Haslingden.
