My Nan, My Best Friend
You were my Nan, but so much more,
My best friend, the one I could never ignore.
Through every high and every low,
You stood beside me, more than you’ll ever know.
You loved me through my darkest days,
Supported me in so many ways.
No matter what life brought my way,
You were there — you never walked away.
You had a heart so warm and kind,
A love like yours is hard to find.
And watching you with my children too,
Was something so precious, something so true.
You were the greatest Great-Grandma they could have,
With every cuddle, every smile, every laugh.
The memories you gave them will always remain,
A little piece of you that time can’t take.
I wish I could hear your voice once more,
Walk through your door like I did before.
I’d give anything for one last embrace,
One more conversation, one more look at your face.
But although my heart is broken in two,
I know a part of me will always have you.
In the stories I tell, in the things that I do,
In my children’s hearts — they’ll carry you too.
You taught me love, you taught me strength,
You gave me comfort at every length.
And though I can’t hold your hand anymore,
Your love will stay with me forevermore.
So sleep peacefully, my beautiful Nan,
I’ll love you for as long as I can.
You weren’t just my Nan, you were my best friend,
And I’ll carry your love with me until my very end.
Until we meet again,
I’ll miss you more than words can say.
Thank you for loving me,
For always being there,
And for being the most wonderful Nan
And Great-Grandma anyone could ever have. ❤️
Lisa
