ANDY HALLETTAndy Hallett, one of the stars of supernatural detective series Angel, died of a heart failure at the age of 33 on 29 March, 2009.In the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off he played the green-skinned demon Lorne, also known in the series as ‘The Host’, a karaoke bar owner who reluctantly helped Angel (a reformed Vampire) in his investigations.He appeared in 76 episodes of the hit show between 2000 and 2004. He was also a singer and coached his co-stars when they had to sing in Lorne’s bar. He sang two numbers on an album released by the Angel cast in 2005.Andrew Alcott Hallett was born in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, on 4 August, 1975. He began performing after none other than Patti LaBelle coaxed him on stage during a concert, prompting him to take up singing as a profession.He moved to LA to work as a singer and landed the part in Angel when the show’s creator Joss Whedon saw him in a nightclub. It was his first major acting role (although he had previously appeared as an extra in Buffy) and he didn’t even have an agent at the time.But during his years of success he was also frequently ill with heart troubles. He passed away at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles with his father Dave Hallett by his side.
