CHRIS LANGFORDSinger Chris Langford - who appeared with stars likeMorecambe & Wise and Mike and Bernie Winters - died on 6 January, 2010 at the age of 70.Chris was particularly well-known in the Tyne Tees television region where in the 1960s she was a regular performer on the regional lunchtime programme The One O'Clock Show alongside a young Bill Maynard and comedian Jack Haig.She was working as a solicitor's secretary in Manchester and studying law when she decided to enter a talent show - which she won. In the audience was Tyne Tees Television’s Len Martin, who invited her to an audition in Newcastle.The five-year contract she was offered led her to pursue a career in singing and move to the north east. She settled in Monkseaton, where she lived with her husband Jim Goldby, later a director at Tyne Tees, and their two children.She sang with the big bands of the era and worked alongside Morecambe and Wise and Mike and Bernie Winters.In the early 1980s Chris moved back to Saddleworth, near Manchester, and later re-married.
