GordonWALLER, the singer/songwriter and guitarist died on 17 July, 2009, aged 64.
Together with Peter Asher he formed Peter and Gordon and the duo enjoyed a string of hits including 1964's "A World Without Love", written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney.
Peter Asher’s younger sister, Jane Asher, was at the time a girlfriend of Paul McCartney’s and through this connection the duo were able to record other songs written by Mr McCartney such as Nobody I Know, I Don't Want To See You Again and Woman
Born in Braemar, Scotland, on 6 June, 1945, Mr Waller met Mr Asher when the two were both pupils at the prestigious Westminster School in London.
Peter & Gordon broke up 1968 and in 1972 Mr Waller launched a solo career.
Several Peter & Gordon greatest hit album compilations were released in the next three decades before Mr Waller released two further solo albums Plays the Beatles (in 2007) and Rebel Rider (in 2008).
In 2007 and 2008 Peter and Gordon reunited to play a number of events. Their last major appearance together was in Los Angeles in August 2008.
Mr Waller died in hospital near his home in Ledyard, Connecticut after suffering a heart attack. He was married twice and was surivied by his first and second wives, two daughters and a grandaughter.
