This is very, very sad news. Bill was such a massive inspiration for me. I bought my first model at Bill's shop in Paisley some 30 years ago. He made the experience such a life event for me. His enthusiasm and passion for modelling really rubbed off. To this day I remember that event vividly as Bill took me through all my options for models, engines, radio and accessories...literally a kid in a candy store. Back then the shop was an Aladdins cave, information and pictures were scarce so a trip there was like a pilgrimage. I remember a huge F4U Corsair hanging up. I bought a Thunder Tiger Skylark 2, one of the first ARTFs, Enya 40ss and JR 6 Channel radio. My model got damaged and Bill sorted it free for me. Life then happened, I moved, priorities changed. However a few years ago I got Bills contact number to discuss getting into Jets, he spent a few nights talking over options, flying for team Scotland and all things Jets and again he left his mark on me and here I am about to embark on new journey in model aviation. Not only that when we first spoke after 28 years he remembered me. He remembered my passion and enthusiasm, the model I bought and he repaired. He said it was just as much an inspirational event for him as it was for me. A legend has left us. Rest easy Bill and thank you for the memories. My condolences are with all his family and friends.
