Joseph AlanHOLDENAlan Holden, of Milnshaw Gardens, Accrington, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 1 at the age of 77, at sea on the cruise ship Arcadia after a short illness. Alan was born in Billinge and raised in Accrington. A former pupil of St Christopher’s School, he went on to have a long and fulfilling career on the Leeds-Liverpool canal as a bargeman. Up to his retirement he worked at Blythe’s chemical works. He enjoyed painting, cycling, cruising and was a keen amateur radio enthusiast. Alan leaves behind his beloved partner Molly and her family. The eldest of four children, he leaves behind two sisters and one brother. A father to three sons and a grandfather to four grandchildren. The funeral will be held 12.20pm on Friday, April 28 at Accrington Crematorium and afterwards at The Crown public house on Whalley Road, Accrington.
