Joan MargaretHOWLETT(Nee Smith) Joan, after a prolonged tussle with Myeloma, endured with such bravery, character and positiveness, succumbed to its effects and passed away on Christmas Day, aged 72 years. She was surrounded by love and care and it was a peaceful and dignified passing. Joan is now at peace with the Lord in Heaven and this is a great comfort to her family. She leaves her husband Richard, sons William and Philip and 5 grandchildren. Joan will be remembered as a GPO telephonist, a receptionist at several GP practices in Cambridge, as the caterer at the Cambridge Union Society and YMCA, and as the lead tenancy support worker with Jimmy's Night Shelter, then, in her retirement, as a bereavement counsellor in Wells-next-the-Sea.
