SirJENKINSElgar Spencer O.B.E. Died after a short illness on 22nd September 2017, aged 82 years. Much loved father of Christina Church, and Simon Jenkins. Grandfather of Barnaby Jenkins. Former Councillor and Mayor of Bath. Funeral service will take place at St Mary's R.C. Church, Julian Road, Bath on Friday 13th October at 10.00am, followed by burial at Haycombe Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations for Diabetes UK may be sent c/o Co-op Funeralcare, Pulteney Road, Bath, BA2 4HP.

I was terribly sorry to hear this sad news. I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Elgar when I was working as a tour leader in China for Voyages Jules Verne. He quickly became the centre of a happy little group, always in search of good coffee. He bought me a little, jade rabbit as a thank you present. I thought of him recently when I was on a trip to Bath, and was very sad when I found this out. I send my condolences to his family. I am sure he is much missed. Sally Jenkins
