MurielLAWdied at Highfield Hall Nursing Home on Sunday, October 1, aged 93 years. She had worked as a librarian at Accrington and Rossendale College in the sixties and seventies, but had moved to Scotland after that and retired from the Ordnance Survey Glasgow Office in 1992, she then returned to live in Rawtenstall. She was a member of choirs for most of her life from school, Westwood Ladies Choir and then Rossendale Ladies Choir until 2020 when Covid precluded such activities. She had been a member of the East Lancashire Railway since the early seventies and after retirement took up volunteer duties in Bury. She later became caretaker and gardener, along with her friend Syd Crowther at Irwell Vale station until they were both in their late eighties. She was also on the committee of Green Vale Housing Association for several years. Muriel is survived by her sons Donald and Malcolm and their children, Jenna, Kay, Alex and Greg.
The funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium at 2.20pm on November 10.
