George HerbertMCAVOYdied peacefully, on April 5 after a short illness, aged 77. He was the oldest son of Herbert and Mary Mcavoy, and lived in Accrington nearly all his life. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary, children Samantha and Mark, grandchildren Lauren and Elliott, and great- grandchildren Rosie and Mabel. He will also be sadly missed by brothers David and Michael, as well as sisters Dorothy and Marilyn. George was also a much loved father-in-law to Howard and Ruth, brother-in-law to Eric, Christine, Pat, Billy and Maureen, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. A former employee of Lancashire Shopfitters, George was a joiner by trade and a keen walker with the Ramblers and enjoyed a pint with his many friends. The funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Tuesday, April 25 at 12.20pm. Followed by a celebration of George’s life at Burnley Road Bowling Club, Accrington. Family flowers only please, but donations to the RSPCA Altham would be welcomed c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
