GeorgeMONSIGNOR HAYDied suddenly, but peacefully, at home in Kingskerwell, Newton Abbot, aged 93 years, on Easter Monday (1st April 2024).

Father George had served as Parish Priest of many Catholic Churches within the Plymouth Diocese. He studied for the Priesthood at the English College in Rome and was ordained in 1959. At different times, he was a priest in Crediton, Dartmouth, Okehampton and Chagford, Paignton, Torquay and he celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his Ordination at Bovey Tracey. He had also been Chaplain at Exeter University and Rector of the English College in Rome. In his retirement he assisted the Priests of Newton Abbot and Kingskerswell.

He was much loved by his Family, his Colleagues and his Parishioners.

May he rest in Peace.

There will be a vigil Mass at St. Gregory's Church, Kingskerswell on Wednesday, 24th April at 5pm. A Requiem Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, Newton Abbot on Thursday, 25th April at 12noon, followed by private burial.
