It is with great sadness that my wife and I heard of the death of David last week. For me it is the loss of an old friend from university days. With such a slow but crippling disease for such an active person, both in body and mind, we can only be grateful that his end was relatively quick and painless rather than lingering. We both have happy memories of frequent stays at Waterleap and the hospitality, lively conversation and journeys round the Northumberland countryside usually taking in sight of a few castle country houses of monastic ruins. Our thoughts are very much with his family and those friends in the local community who he leaves behind. May he rest in peace.
