Bud (Hugh Franklyn)VARNEYSadly passed away peacefully in his sleep on 16th July after a long and complex illness. Dearly loved husband of Janette, loving dad to Helen and Emma, Nathan and Dale and very proud grandad to Aidan and Jesse, and all his four legged pals Rosie, Chloe, Jazz, Astrid and Aura. Will be sadly missed but always remembered for his sense of humour and colourful character and joking around in the Vale Club which was his pride and joy. Rest in peace Budley, love from us all x x x Family flowers only but donations on the day if desired to Notts Air Ambulance and British Red Cross. Funeral to take place at Gedling Crematorium on Friday 26th August at 2pm and a celebration of his life at The Vale Social Club, Colwick. All are welcome.

Bud, you were a prince among men. Once l had a problem with my roof and as l lived alone, was at my wits end. I mentioned it to Bud and the next day a stranger (to me) turned up at my door and repaired it for me. Naturally l got my purse out to pay him but Bud had already paid him. That was the man, if he couldn’t do you a good turn, he surely wouldn’t do you a bad one. My sincere condolences to all his family. He will be sorely missed.
