A smart man, in wit, turnout and intelligence and an outstanding example of how to be a soldier in the finest tradition.
We are all the better for having known him.

Having Archie as Colour Sergeant at RMAS was the best start any of us could have had in the Army. It could not have been better. He was the epitome of the professional soldier and leader and a brilliant example to us all. We knew we were lucky at the time and his effect on all of us was incredible.

My sincerest condolences to all his family and friends, Gone far to soon but never forgotten.

As a young officer cadet at Sandhurst Archie played a truly formative role in shaping my future and preparing me to be an infantry officer. As an infantryman himself he paid particular attention to those of us aspiring to be leaders in that role, coaching and mentoring us to be the best we could be. Sadly missed.
