MargaretASPINIt was with the heaviest of hearts that we said goodbye to our dear Mum, Margaret Aspin, on Monday, November 20. She was a wonderful woman who brought nothing but love into this world for 98 years. She was married to George for 59 years and became a dedicated Mum to four marvellous children, who have gone on to give her three grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a very religious person, including being a parishioner at St James the Less Catholic church for over 30 years, where Father David Lupton (Canon) organized an Apostolic Blessing from Pope Francis on her 90th birthday. Mum was born in Peel Green, Manchester and lived in Middleton, Milnrow, then on a farm at Water for 15 years, before finally moving to Constablee in 1987. However, in 2021 Margaret had a bad fall at home and broke both legs so she had to move into The Grove Nursing Home at Rosegrove, Burnley, where the staff have been magnificent. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for the exemplary care that they provided for Mum right up until the end. Mum was an excellent crafts woman and loved dressmaking and knitting, camping, then caravanning, walking, dancing, gardening and bird watching. In the 1980s she travelled all over Europe with Dad or her sister, Dorothy, especially to a timeshare apartment in Spain. A Requiem Mass will be held at St James the Less, Rawtenstall on December 8 at 10.30am, followed by interment at Rawtenstall Cemetery. Family flowers only please, but donations would be appreciated via the funeral directors, Hamers of Rawtenstall, for Hearing Dogs for the Deaf in honour of their wonderful rescue dog, Rusty, who became Mum and Dad’s ears for almost 18 years.
