AndyBARNESAndy Barnes
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our Andy aged 83 years. On the 30th May surrounded by his adoring family in the Freeman hospital after a short battle with lung cancer and pneumonia.
Andy worked 44 years at George Angus/ Freudenberg as a time served, well respected maintenance fitter. During his time there he met the love of his life Lillian. Andy loved his football & was a loyal NUFC fan. He spent much of his time playing in goal for George Angus & North Shields in the sixties.
Andy leaves behind his heartbroken wife of 63 years Lillian, son Steven, daughter Andrea, daughter in law Wendy, 4 adoring Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren.
He was a wonderful husband, an amazing dad & and an extraordinary grandad that could fix anything (but balloons) for all of his Grandchildren.
They broke the mould when he was born, the best man to ever of walked this earth.
The family would like to extend their thanks to WS Harrison's funeral directors and all of the staff on ward 29 at the Freeman Hospital, with special thanks to Laura for comforting Andy's wife Lillian.
Andy had a very private cremation on the 18.06.24. If any friends or family would like to make any donations in Andy's memory we would ask for them to be made with thanks to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
