GeoffreyBAXTERIt is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing on 25 May 2026 of Geoffrey Lovedin Thomas Baxter JP, aged 91, formerly of Swallow and former teacher at The Hereford and Havelock Schools, Grimsby. Loving husband of Polly, dearest father of Ben and Laura, affectionate grandfather of Sam and Julia, Phoebe, Freya and Emily and elder brother of Melissa and the late Richard; sadly missed by his family and his many good friends.

A private funeral will take place at Grimsby Crematorium followed by a Service of Celebration in Holy Trinity Church, Swallow, on Monday 22nd of June at 2pm.

The family requests no floral tributes, but if you do so wish, donations in memory of Geoff may be made at the Service of Celebration to: Water Aid or the Bluebell Appeal which supports End of Life Care at the Grimsby Hospital. So sorry for your loss.
Geoff was a lovely man and a highly respected colleague.
At Havelock, as head of Durham House, he combined affability and enthusiasm with a sense of calm control.

I am so very sorry to hear of Mr Baxter’s passing. He taught me at Havelock and Polly was my mentor when I was on teaching practice. My condolences to her and the family.
