I met Mark playing an online computer game. He was advocating the principle of "the greatest good to the greatest number" and I commented that was something originally proposed by a great economics thinker, Jeremy Bentham. Turns out that Mark was his great grandson. We got to know each other over the following months, and had a number of phone calls. Mark was a very helpful man - both in the online game and for real life. He gave me quite a few chef's tricks to try on my own cooking. I learned around a year ago that Mark was unwell, and we spoke a number of times as his prognosis worsened. I only just found out the disease won. I'll miss you mate. Vale, Mark Bentham. Your friend John (from Australia).
