The obituary notice of Barbara BOOTH

RIP Barbara. You were a ray of sunshine to us kids back in the day. Always happy, always laughing when we came to the sweet shop at the end of the mill yard in Hinchliffe Mill, and later on across the road at the new shop that Leonard built.
In those days of course we didn’t realise that you become part of our family x

I have always and will always love you, Grandma.

I often find myself saying and doing things subconsciously with Ali that are hardwired into me because of you. You will live on through the way I am striving to parent him with love, affection, listening and showing interest in his feelings. (Plus pancakes, conkers, card games, blackberrying and countless other lovely things we did together. I’ll have to introduce him to Countdown one day and I’m sure it won’t be long before I’m getting the nest of tables out to make him do his homework!)

Thank you for giving me a blueprint of gentle love and kindness to follow. You are part of the fabric of who I am and who my son will be and that can never be taken away.

I am trying to be more like you now (brave, resilient and practical) but it’s hard because it hurts so much that you’re not here any more. There is so much I wish I could say and share with you but I’ll just say thank you. You were always my favourite person and I’m glad I always used to tell you that.

Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Aunty Barbara. She was such a remarkable woman. I will always cherish the wonderful memories and laughter we shared during family gatherings, especially during Christmas playing "Beetle" and "Ring on a string". Every time i travel through Holmfirth she will come to mind.
