A Tribute to My Auntie Pauline

Some people come into our lives for a lifetime, while others come into our lives far too late. My Auntie Pauline was one of those special people.

For much of my life, I never had the chance to know my dad’s side of the family. It wasn’t until after I left the Army and moved back to Lincoln that I finally found them. Although I only had a short time to know Auntie Pauline, I will always be grateful that I had that chance.

Auntie Pauline was a kind, warm and caring lady who welcomed me as family. Even though the years we shared were few, she made me feel connected to a part of my life that had been missing for so long. Those memories are precious and will always stay with me.

Watching Motor Neurone Disease take such a wonderful person was heartbreaking. MND is a cruel illness that steals so much from those it affects, yet it never took away Pauline’s courage or the love she showed to those around her.

I often wish we had found each other years earlier. There were so many stories we never had the chance to share and so many memories we never had the opportunity to make. That is something I will always carry with me.

Although our time together was brief, the impact Auntie Pauline had on my life was lasting. She helped me discover my father’s family and gave me a sense of belonging that I had long been missing.

Auntie Pauline, I miss you deeply. Thank you for welcoming me into your life and your family. I will always treasure the time we had together, however short it was.

Rest peacefully. You will always be remembered, always be loved, and never be forgotten. Love Justin

For my dearest friend and song and dance partner Pauline..we "were a couple of swells"...my heart is broken. A beautiful girl inside and out. You will be so badly missed. Keep listening Pauline and I will sing your song "A Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square" for you. Good night my precious friend...Heartfelt condolences to all the family. Jeanette Sadler.
