LillianEAVESMrs Lillian Eaves, of Kirk House, Church, died at East Lancs Hospice on Thursday, September 16, aged 87. Lillian had a varied career, from farm hand to HGV driver, a scrap metal trader, and finally a shopkeeper. She retired from her greengrocers in Springhill in 1984. During her life, mum enjoyed quiet pastimes; she loved reading, crosswords, sudokus and jigsaws and, after her sight failed, she listened avidly to audiobooks. Mum loved spending time with her family. Loving partner to the late Jack Howarth of Slate Pits Farm, she leaves children Carole, Billy, Sandie, Maureen and Edward, daughter-in-law Lesley and late son-in-law Peter, devoted brother Gordon and sister-in-law Barbara, not forgetting stepdaughter Glenis, grandchildren Peter, Eamon, Alison, Helen, Stuart, Jordan, Annie and Liam, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mum fought a valiant battle through many years of ill health and pain. Nevertheless, she remained a wonderful mum. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 29, at 10.20am at Accrington Crematorium Chapel led by Philip Norris, with graveside at Dill Lane Cemetery. Flowers welcome; donations if desired to VICS (Visually Impaired Children’s Society). Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
