Heartbroken to hear about the passing of Gerald. I met Gerald for the first time almost 50 years ago when he was part of a NFRC and Redland delegation to encourage roofing contractors to form a branch of the NFRC in Northern Ireland. From the moment I first met him I immediately bonded with him. We started up a lasting friendship, unfortunately this last couple of years due to medical issues prevented me from meeting up with him. Alice and I spent many happy times with Gerald and Deana, also his family. Including times together at NFRC, IFD and the company of Tylers and Bricklayers also many other times including trips abroad, Northern Ireland and of course in his beautiful home in Acton. I always looked up to Gerald and there is no doubt that my career, particularly with NFRC, I classed Gerald as my mentor and benefited from his fantastic knowledge and advice. Alice and I send our sincere condolences to Deana, Simon, Claire and the boys. He will be missed but what a legacy he left. God Bless.

From my early years at J W Greaves in Blaenau Ffestiniog my ex Chairman Hefin Davies used to take me to the regional and National NFRC committees and events and I always had the pleasure of listening to Gerald Emerton and Hefin Davies reminiscing about ‘old times’, as a ‘young pup’, it was a privilege to listen and learn. Deepest condolences to you all as a family, Simon, looking forward to seeing you and the boys in May, God bless the loss of a legend 😔

Sincere condolences to all the Emerton family in Gerald’s passing…. He was so very proud of all his family and the fact that so many have followed in his footsteps and excelled.

I first came across Gerald in one of his publications in the 80s while still completing my Apprenticeship.

Much later I met him at the inauguration of the new NFRC Heritage Comittee and he was so welcoming and kind to a very new and nervous member.

A true legend in our Industry who has left a mark on me and so many others but also a great family Legacy. RIP my friend. Xxxx
