I only have fun and loving memories of Uncle Al. Come to think of it, I can’t recall seeing him ill tempered. That’s pretty rare I say.
I smile when I remember play fighting with him as a kid - probably more of a play massacre - although Dave believes we got close once….
I also remember playing golf with him around my 18th birthday - we were still being toyed with.
What springs to mind most was his strong hands and strong hugs.
He was always smiling and always happy to see the family - with a coffee in hand of course!
Hoping he’s enjoying a few holes of golf up there - especially the 19th.
So from your family down under - rest in peace and remember to get some rest and peace!
Strong hugs from all of us!

Uncle Al was a true gent, always quick with a joke and a cheeky smile, the room was brighter when he was there! I remember speaking to him and Margaret once and they were reminiscing on their early days of going out, it was clear how much they loved each other and their family. He will be very missed. Rest in peace, with much love Jen x

The things I won’t forget about Uncle Alan: how epic he was at anagrams during the annual Christmas Gathering of the Clan girls vs boys games. He was almost instant at recognising the word and shouting his answer. He carried the boys team (the rest of them were rubbish!). It was mighty impressive. I also won’t forget how tightly he held you when he hugged you. He was an excellent hugger. Every time like he hadn’t seen you for ages, feet off the floor, a grand loving smush. Chris says he won’t forget his mischievous smile. I think we can all agree with that. I can picture it now over a bunch of pennies on top of the Kings in the middle of the table for Go Market. Growing up it was clear Uncle Al was extra special because he always got a “proper coffee” when he came over. Lord help you if you served him instant, you’d be in big trouble with Mum. Uncle Al had to have the best. He deserved it. Still does. Hope they’re treating you the best up there. Rest in peace Uncle Al. All our love. Sara, Chris and Olive

Quite simply a Great Uncle. So many good memories…My last one is very fitting as the last time I saw him Hull City had just beaten Manchester United 2-0 on the opening day of the season. I let him know with glee but wasn’t quite sure if he actually believed me at first…🤣 Rest in peace Big Al.
