As you know, I got to know John at Hull in the 1960s. He stood out as a guy with an attractive personality - talented and witty, and kind; and, as I discovered, with a rare gift for friendship.
After university, when I was going through a personally difficult time, John was a terrific support - in fact a life-saver; I will never forget his friendship and generosity pf spirit.
We all know too that John was a great pianist and guitarist - he was the main inspiration for my taking up guitar. There are many who like me whose lives have been enriched - in the life of the emotions as well as musically - through knowing John.
It was a privilege to have known you, John, and we will always miss you. Love, Paul (Plummer)

I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. John I believe was the same individual who I knew in Plymouth and we were very good friends. He also had a huge influence on me music wise. MY SINCEREST condolences to his wife and family. Very sad news. Rgds Michael Weston
