First of all, my partner Colin and I are deeply sorry we can't be there with you all to share our memorles of Nan together.
But we'll be watching and listening to the celebration of her life and wishing we were there too.
Mum had Nancy just 17 months after me and this small age gap meant closeness growing up, particularly as our family moved between Fife and Malta a lot, so frequent changes of homes and schools.
She was a quiet but resourceful child, both charming and humorous.
She carried these qualities into her adult life which was certainly challenging and full of unexpected changes and situations.
Out of five Sharp kids, only Nan gained a university degree and with it, I think, an overview and enlarged curiosity of the world she inhabited.
She leaves her lovely daughter Sarah, with husband Alan and their son Mattie to carry on her family line.
And of course Nan's husband Diarmid, who contributed to and shared her last, and in many ways her happiest years.
Part of Nan's beauty was her unawareness of it, making others feel utterly at ease.
We'll be playing some New Orleans jazz and maybe a bit of Cuban salsa -- remembering her and Diarmid's love of these two places and thinking of you all, especially Nan's other sisters Lynn and Beth and our brother Drew, always there for her in their own very different ways.
Nan, we'll love you and miss you always.
