Chris was a great help and support in my early years at the School of Biosciences. He was always friendly understanding and helpful and had this quiet whit about him that made it an absolute pleasure to work with him.
I remember specifically his reassuring comments after a minor lab injury in the course of which it transpired that apparently injuries from use of scalpels were mostly caused by students pointing at each other with them!
His experience was second to none and I received the news of his passing with great sadness.
Fair well Chris.

We are so sorry for your loss Bronwen and David. Chris was a good friend to us when we lived in Cardiff, and we had so many lovely times with him, Eliz and you. From bat boxes in the back garden to shooting stars in Builth, from holidays in Stackpole to walks in Forest Farm, we have many, many fond memories of his friendship. Our condolences.

I remember Chris fondly as a generous, gentle and patient colleague who always had time to help those around him -whatever our rank or position. Outside of work, he was an extremely perceptive and knowledgeable naturalist with whom I often chatted about his insights or observations from Fforest Farm and beyond. As the world moves on and changes, Chris was a model of what can be the best of us - marking out what we ourselves should be.

I greatly saddened that Chris is no longer here. He was such a marvellous colleague at Cardiff, hard working, selfless and fun to be with - we miss him. Deepest condolences to Bronwen and David, family and close friends.
