Condolences to Paul's family. He was a visionary. A unique and original thinker. He always had the best interests of his students and his school at heart. I learned such a lot from him in the 8 years that I worked with him. I hope his loved ones can take some comfort from that.

A wonderful man – an inspiring headteacher, imaginative innovator in education and a man who truly cared about the students with whom he worked. Under his leadership, Monkseaton High forged a unique position in the landscape of schooling in north-east England.
