Norman WalterPAYNE~ It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Norman Walter Payne, who left us on Wednesday the 18th September, at 7pm. Despite facing breathing difficulties over the past year, Norman, with the resilience of a true Police Sergeant, fought courageously until the very end. He passed away at the age of 78 in hospital, surrounded by his devoted wife Naira and step-daughter Maria.

Norman was born in Hastings, East Sussex. In his early years, he proudly served in the Army before transitioning to a career in the Police Force. He later settled in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, where he lived and worked for much of his life. Fittingly, his journey came full circle when he passed away in Brighton, East Sussex.

To honour Norman's life and memory, a funeral service will be held in accordance with his wishes at Woodvale Crematorium, Brighton, on Friday the 25th October, at 2:30pm. He will then be laid to rest at Hastings Cemetery. Donations are warmly welcomed to the St. Peter and St. James Hospice Charitable Trust, who provided exceptional support to Norman at home during his last year. We invite all who knew him to join us in remembering and celebrating the remarkable life he lived.
