Remembrance
Since me Mam passed I’ve reminisced about her so much, as I’m sure we all have.
My earliest memory is of my Mother. I must be about three years old and I’m clinging to her leg like a limpet. We are at the front gate of 101 St John’s Grove and she’s gently stroking my hair while we wait for Steven to come home from school.
I recall that every time I’d make a surprise visit she’d always complain that her hair was a mess or she’d have worn a better top or skirt if she’d known I was coming, and she has nothing in the house special, closely followed by where is Jessie?
I remember her amazement at the size of a jacket potato at a diner in the States that was actually pretty massive, and how she exclaimed that she couldn’t eat it all, and how when I told her I was moving to the States, that I shouldn’t eat all the food on the over filled plates as I’d get fat. I obviously didn’t listen.
Just some brief memories of what a wonderful, warm, funny, and loving woman and Mother she was. Not huge life altering events but beautiful little moments in time.
As the Walker Brothers said,
Another tear falls
And then I know
You are still here in my heart
I love you Mum!
