Mrs Shelmerdine was my class tutor at Cheltenham College Junior School between 1993-1996. Having recently arrived from Hong Kong into a very English environment, Mrs Shelmerdine was extremely kind, generous, caring and welcoming towards me. She even visited my family at our home near school. Mrs Shelmerdine spoke with a clear and gentle voice. She always encouraged her pupils to uphold the values of respect, honour and dignity. After my family left Cheltenham for London, she continued to correspond with us, reaching out with much support and sympathy to my late sister who had fallen chronically ill, and I believe that they will see each other again in heaven. We did try to visit her in her later years but sadly, she was too sick to receive any visitors. Our condolensces go to her family. We know that she lived a very full life. I remember her faith was important to her and one day, her loved ones will be reunited with her. We join in celebrating her life!
