You changed my life mate. From the moment I came to your class over 25 years ago we just gelled. A shared passion for hard training and boxing. They were the best days of my life. You gave me the confidence to go on and live my dream, and for that and your friendship I am forever grateful. Such a genuine guy with a big heart to go with his physical strength and formidable mental strength. You were an inspiration to everyone who got to know you. I will miss you forever mate...but like you always said "Mates for life" 🤜🤛🥊 xx

A true gentleman, always with a smile on his face. Godfather to my daughter Rebecca. We had some good times and great laughs over the years.
Condolences to Lisa and Syd’s family.

Syd and I attended Meadowwell Infants School together then met up again at Ralph Gardner Secondary. Syd was always friendly, positive and had a kind word for me when we met in the street, sometimes not seeing each for years on end. After meeting Syd I would always have a spring in my step for the rest of my day. He had that way of spreading his magic. North Shields has lost a good man. RIP Syd Ahomet. Willy Carr
